ElectroLire

the overtonal stringed musical instrument

ElectroLire is a musical instrument with an innovative principle of sound production. Five pairs of vertically stretched strings oscillate under the influence of an alternating magnetic field, generating microtonal harmonic sound waves. The speed of rotation of 9 flywheels is determined by the controller commands.

Its peculiarity is the possibility of simultaneous sounding of 26 strings in multichannel system under the non-contact influence of alternating magnetic field. This makes it possible to extract not separate tones, but a cloud of overtones, the multidimensional sonor without a certain pitch.

This innovative principle of sound generation was created by Sergey Filatov in 2014.
ElectroLire is based on this principle, but expanded and supplemented with spatial sound. The video also shows alternative techniques of playing.

This musical instrument is in a single copy in the author's collection.
